On my brother’s ninth birthday this year, my family and I went to Ocean Park to celebrate with him.
In the morning, we filled our backpacks with snacks and took a taxi to Ocean Park. When we reached there, we gave the staff our tickets and got in. We first took some maps and planned what to play first. Finally, we decided to have a nice ride in the hot-air balloon. When we got into the balloo0n, we took some photos with our happy faces on.
Whee – up we went, higher and higher. The people down below looked like ants running around and I felt strange and funny. In this balloon, I could see almost the whole of Ocean Park. After flying around in mid air for several minutes, the balloon was sinking lower and lower.
Then, we went to visit the sharks. They were enormous! When I saw the sharks I shivered with fear because those sharks were not so friendly, to tell you the truth! I stared and stared at them but they just swam away. There were so attractive that I nearly forgot to follow my family out of the sharks’ centre.
Next, it was time for lunch and we all took a yellow cable car to the restaurant. The four of us were so hungry that we ate a lot there. You know what? I love eating, especially desserts. When I saw the desserts and food there, my eyes nearly popped out of my head because all the food was delicious! Fried rice, crabs’ legs and salad, shrimps, puddings and cakes, who wouldn’t like a lunch so tasty?
After that delicious lunch, we went to see a dolphin show. My favorite sea animal is dolphin. Dolphins are very clever and they love humans. We saw dolphins doing different tricks which humans can’t do. The show was amazing, when the dolphins jumped, we cheered. When the dolphins caught a fish, we clapped. When the dolphins did tricks, we gave them a “thumbs up” sign.
When the show finished, we went for a ride on a boat and sailed on a small river and suddenly and before I noticed what was going to happen, but the next second I knew, and WHEE – down we want, falling into a “to fast” dive, and the next moment I was all wet, and so were my family. We got off the boat and headed for the small wooden house to take a good look at our photos, which were taken when we fell down. Our picture were funny, mum’s long hair was flying in the air, and I had my mouth open and my brother disappeared behind dad, and dad’s face was full of excitement, his eyes widened with shock. In the end, we bought a photo of our funny faces, so we wouldn’t forget this amazing boat ride.
We were all wet and we visited the jellyfish. I liked their swimming style, always so beautiful and graceful, like a little angel in the sea. I leaned forward and touched the glass, wishing I could touch them, because they were all shining when the different colors of light shone on them, and I thought it was beautiful, a strange feeling swept over me. I followed my family and we saw more and more, stranger and stranger jellyfish, and we took more and more pictures.
The visit to the jellyfish was interesting and when I got out. I was still thinking about it. I almost forgot I was in Ocean Park. Instead, I just followed my family. When I realized where I was, I saw that I was already in the queue for a ride on a “pirate ship”. I waited and waited, then finally it was our turn. I spotted a seat and jumped on the ship and the ship started to move backwards and forwards. Higher and higher we went in the air, so I hung on to the ship for dear life and I nearly screamed when the ship almost threw us out. I felt dizzy and the world was upside down. I didn’t know what to do, so I tried to close my eyes. But the tighter I closed them, the fainter I felt. At last, it was over and I happily jumped off the ship but nearly tripped. I stared at my legs as though there was something wrong with them, and I felt my legs trembling in fear.
I walked towards a chair and sat down. I felt both relived and dizzy. But I didn’t know – the next thing I was going to play was much, much more scary. Fifteen minutes later, I was starting to get better and felt bored. So my family and I joined another queue and waited for our turn to play. When it was our turn, we sat on a chair, which was stuck to a machine and the next second the chair soared upwards to the sky and stopped. I closed my eyes because I was as high as a tall building. I didn’t know what was going on, but I heard my dad who was sitting on my right started counting from ten seconds to zero since we went up here. “three… two… one…” Dad counted. I heard his voice shaking with fear. What was happening to me, I didn’t know, but just the moment after “one…” and I heard dad yell “ZERO!” and we fell down so fast, faster than any of the rides I’d taken before. I heard screams and cries yelling “help” and I couldn’t stand it, I opened my eyes. I saw the stranger sitting next to me was wearing only one sandal as the other one had flown away. Down we went and when we reached the bottom, I thought it was over but I was wrong. We bounced up to the mid-air again and fell again. Wind whistled in my ears. I couldn’t hear to o well. The third time we fell and it was over. I untied my seat belt and fell out of the chair. I took another little peek at the stranger with one sandal and saw her bouncing on the floor with one foot (of course the foot with a sandal), trying extremely hard to find the other one. I laughed out loud with relief, I was lucky that I was wearing my trainers, not sandals.
After the ride, we sat on a cable car (but a red on this time) and went to visit the pandas. On the way, we told some jokes and laughed, but when we reached there, we all stopped laughing at once because we were the only ones who were laughing so loudly, and the room was so quiet. The pandas were sleeping. The place was crowded and I squeezed through (or knocked over or cut across) the people and leaned towards the glass. And my eyes really did pop out of my head this time! Because the real pandas were a million times cuter than the ones in the photos! (Except that they were enormous.) We took a billion pictures of them and walked across the room and went into a shop selling panda toys, like a panda doll, or a panda passport, or a panda backpack, whatever. Mum bought me and my brother presents: each of us got a panda doll, (including a passport) for we had been well behaved the whole day. Mum paid for the dolls and handed mine to me. I took it and hugged it tightly.
“Grrrrr…” My stomach grumbled with hunger, as we took a taxi home. I grinned to myself, I didn’t have to worry about anything because I would be having dinner very soon. It would be very delicious and that’s a promise!
I will never forget those happy memories of Ocean Park but now I’m already looking forward to our next trip – Disneyland! Doesn’t it sound wonderful?
