Willie was a little otter with a shinny dark brown skin. Father Otter taught Willie a lot of things such as swimming, diving and fish catching.
One day, when Willie was swimming by himself, he caught a fish. "Oh! I make it. This is the first fish I catch without my father's help!" he screamed, "I have to find a place to hide it and enjoy it later."
So Willie swam under the water to find the secret place. Suddenly he saw a hole under the water, as secret as his home. It was a narrow pipe that had been thrown into the river.
A few days later, Mother Otter, Willie and his sister heard Father Otter making three strange whistles from the other side of the river.
"Be quiet and stay still," whispered Mother Otter.
"Three whistles means danger," explained Mother Otter. "A single whistle is the 'All Clear' signal. Let's wait for the 'All Clear' signal."
"I have to save my father," exclaimed Willie. He swam away and her mother could not stop him.
There came a hunter with the otter dogs. They saw him. Willie saw them too. He dived down. The dogs jumped into the water to chase after him. Poor Willie knew that he could not swim home. Then he remembered his secret place just nearby. At once, he swam to the secret place and hid himself from the dogs and the hunter.
At there he stayed until he heard Father Otter's 'All Clear' signal.
